At PepsiCo Foods Canada (PFC) we face the challenge of growing our business while reducing our impact on the planet. This includes minimizing the amount of water used to create our products. Through numerous conservation measures and innovative water recycling techniques, we have been able to continuously reduce the water required to produce our high-quality products.
PFC engineers discovered a way to make water used in manufacturing work harder so we could use less of it, thereby reducing our environmental impact. Since 1999, we’ve reduced our water consumption by 50%. That’s over 7 billion litres saved, which is no small drop in the bucket!
Looking to the future, we have begun testing new technologies that condense and capture the steam emitted during our potato chip cooking process. The captured water can then be recycled and reused throughout our production facilities to produce other delicious snacks!
