A Big Kiss to 90 Years: PEPSI® Celebrates Quebec Passion

Pepsi Spotlights Quebec with a new campaign celebrating its people & their unique, all-out passion.

MONTREAL, JUNE 20, 2024 – Quebec and Pepsi have always had a special relationship, and this year, there is something to celebrate. June 2024 marks the 90th anniversary of the opening of the first bottling plant in Montreal – the first location outside of the United States. In honour of its 90th birthday, Pepsi Canada is going back to where it all started.

Pepsi is writing a love letter to Quebec with the new campaign, Ici, Quand on aime, on aime. The campaign showcases the Québécois unique passion for the things that they love. All summer long, Pepsi will celebrate the Quebec passion and people of today through partnerships, immersive events, social content moments, and giveaways.

“As we celebrate Pepsi’s 90th anniversary in Quebec, we wanted to give the love right back to the people who have been the heartbeat of our brand. It is their passion and enthusiasm that have propelled Pepsi to where it stands today,” said Senior Director at PepsiCo Canada, Reid Black. "As we look ahead, we remain committed to continuing to celebrate the people and culture of Quebec.”

Ici, Quand on aime, on aime,

The new anthem commercial launches today, using the simple yet infectious kiss to symbolize the Québécois passion. Brought to life by a Quebec-based production team, the commercial features a homegrown cast of over 30 Québécois and an iconic musical track of “C’est bon pour le moral" of La Compagnie Créole. The ad features a variety of Quebec pop culture clips, including La Guerre Des Tuques, Chambres en Ville and WWE superstar Kevin Owens. Québécois will see the new campaign across television, digital and out-of-home placements all summer. Later this summer, Pepsi will unveil additional campaign elements.

Deep Roots in Quebec

On June 12, 1934, Pepsi opened its first Canadian bottling plant in Montreal. The dedicated Pepsi bottlers represent the essence of the Pepsi brand: passion, fun and enjoyment.

By the end of 1935, there were 20 franchises in Canada, with 13 of them in Quebec. All franchises are owned by families.

Today, Alex Coulombe Ltd. is one of the company’s largest franchise bottlers and has been part of the Pepsi family since 1935. As part of the 90th anniversary celebrations, Pepsi will be activating at Festival d'été de Québec. Alex Coulombe Ltd. is a proud sponsor of Festival d'été de Québec, where commemorative merchandise and cans will be available.

PepsiCo Beverages Canada and its four Quebec bottlers have a local footprint of more than 1,340 employees at 16 manufacturing and distribution facilities.
